• "The Great Race" - story by Donne Avenell and art by Felmang Ferri.

Straight out of a Boys Own Annual, "The Great Race" story has surfaced from the Frew archives after 27 years (Frew Issue 880)! Whilst the story from Donne Avenell takes us on a wild, adventurous ride, I particularly love the feel of Heiner Bade's art in this story, it's very detailed and clean which is lucky given the original bromides haven't been seen since 1987. (Says a lot for their processing back in the day). 

There are a few pretty unbelievable action scenes, one involving Devil and The Phantom on snow skies but it’s great fun and testament to The Phantom’s ability to turn his hand at just about anything, not to mention Devil’s absolute trust in the boss’s ability to scrape through the dodgiest situations!

There is another story titled the Great Race, written by Tony De Paul and published in Frew Issue 1585 it’s a very different story, if you own one you’re lucky as we have none left for sale.
