"The Mark of Cain" - story by Phillip of Madden and art by Rafael “Rafa” Ruiz Gilet.

Cover art by Jamie Johnson.

Story : The Mark of Cain was written by Phillip Madden an English writer brought up in South Yorkshire in Northern England. He began his comic writing career in the British small press prior to working for publisher DC Thomson, which led him to an opportunity to write Phantom stories for Team Fantomen.
The accompanying artwork has been drawn by Rafael “Rafa” Ruiz Gilet, a Spanish comics creator who has created Phantom artwork since 2015. He is a visual artist and illustrator from Palma de Mallorca, Spain with a long list of work credentials in his homeland including stints with Dolmen Editorial and La Cupula. He has also worked in advertising, cinema and video games. He was one of the artists of the comic about Dutch singers Nick en Simon published in the girl’s magazine Tina.
Frew’s cover artist for this issue is a local artist Jamie Johnson. His most recent work for Frew was his extraordinary contribution to the Supanova Jam cover. His panel composition was a depiction of the Phantom abseiling down the side of a building guns ablaze at night with the sails of the Opera House gleaming in the moonlight behind him. If you purchased a Pholio #1 set it is a part of that magnificent collection.
Compare this recent work with his last cover for Frew which was for Issue No. 1628 “Save Jerusalem,” and you will be able to immediately witness the growth and development of this young and talented illustrator. We are thrilled to have him contributing to the new look of Frew, and we will doubtless see much more of his work in the future.
